A few photos from the weekend

I personally think your cake is AWESOME! The other one just doesn't look edible, and if it's not edible, it's not a cake, right?
I agree with mama-p. The winning cake doesn't even look edible. It's pretty but it's just...over the top, with the ants and stuff. Oh well. You had fun.

I've been meaning to say this for a while - if/when I have a kid I am so letting her streak her hair crazy colours during school holidays a la Libby here. Love her blue hair!
omg! that baby turkey is cute. and libby holding the baby turkey is even cuter. hehe. :D

i like your cake! while the second one is pretty amazing looking, i agree with the other two ladies... doesn't look like it can even be eaten!!!
Love the honey-tasting photos, the last one made me laugh! Libby is beautiful - the shot of her 'protecting' that turkey is great.

And I agree with previous comments. The second cake looks impressive, but if I were given a choice of which one I wanted to eat, it would be yours all the way.
[this is good]
Great pics! The one of Libby and the turkey chick is priceless!
How did you pry the little turkey out of Libby's hands?
[this is good]
Baby turkeys are so cute! However, I'm not sure I'd want to end up with the grown-up version. Your cake looks so much more edible than the other. I stared at that other one for a long time trying to figure out what it's even made up. It kind of looks like painted Styrofoam peanuts.

Life in the Banana household sure is interesting! Turkeys, honey tasting and cake baking contests - oh my!

And for the record - your cake was wonderful! I think it at least deserved an honorable mention!

I too love Libby's hair. The cake on the other hand.... Yours is nice... The competition is out standing. I do like to watch Ace of Cakes. I had a turkey growing up and my grandpa served it for Thanksgiving dinner : (
I can see your plate is pretty full. It is probably best that you skip the beekeeping class:).
Aw, thanks! Unfortunately the cakes weren't judged on tatse, just looks. So, you know, I didn't have a chance :)
Thanks! I don't mind Libby dying her hair (obviously, considering I do it for her ;) but I liked the red much more than the blue. I'm dying for the blue to wear off but it takes months...
Thanks Grace! If you had been judging the cakes, maybe I would have got an award :)
Thanks Cath! Oh yes, Libby loved that little turkey. It was very cute when it actually fell asleep in her hands. I'm pretty sure that's when she decided it loved her.
It was quite a challenge. I had to say "Okay, let's give it back to the lady" about ten times.
Thanks. I'll take all the compliments I can get on my cake and run with them :) The other one is iced with fondant which, while lovely to look at, tastes like stryofoam peanuts.
Yes, the cake is fabulous and obviously deserved the "Best of Show" ribbon. I watched Ace of Cakes over spring break at my sister-in-law's and holy cow, those cakes are phenomenal!
