This past week, if there as been an opportunity for me to say the wrong thing, I have (inadvertently) said it. If there has been a chance for me to do the wrong thing, I have (unintentionally) done it.

I think this coming week I will take a vow of silence like a Trappist monk.

I really should try that sometime. I'm still kicking myself over an inane comment I made to someone weeks ago.

One advantage you have living in American is no matter what you say, it sounds good. I say stupid stuff (not to say that what you said was stupid) all the time without anything to distract the listener.

Ah! The dreaded disease (and subsequent flinch-inducing recalls of said disease). Prescription: Read some of your favorite Precious Romatswe life ruminations (there are so many from which to choose), drink some hot cocoa, and put your feet up - far, far away from your mouth. You might not forget your faux pas completely, but at least you'll suppress the memory for a while. AND, there's no need to interact with anyone at all, so you can still keep those silence vows. I feel you. I'm always snapping at my dad. Always.

Lots of times I'll say something dumb, then stress over it for hours/days, then go talk to the person because I have to make it right. Most of the time they either didn't take it badly like I'm always certain they will, or they don't remember it at all.

Ditto. I'm a hyper-vigilant and perfectionistic narcissist, or that's supposedly what the doc said.

Strap meh into the straightjacket so I can brood in peace, hehe.

Meh...fuggedabadit! Everyone that knows you, knows you are a great person, and would never intentionally say anything but the perfect thing. (ps....fmd is a common disorder that strikes *everyone* from time to time.) *hug*

Yes, I am going to try to let it go. I have concluded that while I didn't mean to say what I said in the way that I said it, (try saying that fast) the sentiment remains true and if people disgaree with that...well, let them.
