This is how I know I'm nuts

Wow! You're not just releasing stress from school, are you? :) Can't wait to see what you replace it with!

Stress? I have no stress! Finals will be a cake walk!

There. How's that for positive thinking?

oh my gosh! you guys really DO do a lot of stuff on a whim, huh? :)

can't wait to see the finished product!

(ps - i love that your son said he had 2 flesh wounds. hehe.)
"flesh wounds"... classic.
great photo!
Aren't there laws against child labor? And are you planning on letting him put the new tile down?
Gorgeous Jesse is very perceptive!
Are you training him to be the next Ty Pennington? He looks so cute in his safety equipment. Hope the flesh wounds didn't prevent him from finishing the job, oh and I hope they weren't too serious. I only see one plaster.
It's only nuts if you have no idea what kind of tile you're laying once the demo is completed ;)

can't wait to see the finished product!

Me either! I have absolutlely no idea what it will be! Scary.

Yes, but we're never too surprised at what he comes out with ;) This is a boy who, when he had just turned two years old and his playmates were barely stringing five or six words into simple sentences, told me "Yesterday I was in my bedroom, when I PLUNGED my hand into my toybox...." and we were like, "Hold on? What two-year old says 'plunged'"??? And he also pronounced it "pwunged" which made it even better :)
Thanks Beth. Great model for the photo, I think!

Aren't there laws against child labor?

I'm pretty sure those laws don't apply in Indiana.

are you planning on letting him put the new tile down?

You are assuming that we have any idea what we're doing next. Which, no. Help.

A little too perceptive. It only took him until 11 to figure out that we follow no plan. How long until he realizes that we have utterly no clue what we're doing?
Are you training him to be the next Ty Pennington? I hope not; that guy is a little annoying :) No serious wounds although the leather gloves definitely saved him from slicing his finger open and needing stitches.

Yeah, that would be totally stupid, to just start ripping out tiles with no plan whatsoever, no time to complete the work and finals coming up in a week...

Hey, I said we did things on whim! (Actually, Jesse said that...)

What was it that made you snap??? And think this tile has got to go NOW?

Jesse always sounds (and looks) like the sweetest, most soulful boy. And so smart! You can tell he's the kind of boy that's going to change the world someday :)

And I'm jealous that you can get that kid to help with house projects! Sheesh, we have to bargain for wages with Alexa for any sort of housework or project.
Oh, you know how these things build and build. I think the thing that made me snap was that I have absolutely no time to deal with a torn-up kitchen floor right now, so it stands to reason that I would give a tile an experiemental tap with a hammer (just to test how easily the tile would come up) and go from there.

Thanks so much! :) Yes, he is so sweet (heart of gold, like his sister. Didn't get that from me), so smart, so helpful. He told me that being able to take up the tile (I just let him at it and went and wrote a paper) made him feel important!

But don't blame Alexa for bargaining for wages -- she has a Coach purse habit to keep up ;)

Awww, see now I just think he's even sweeter.

Yeah, that girl's got expensive taste. We paid her to do some yard work last week, and afterward she complained that we cheated her by a dollar. Just another reason we need custody of her ASAP.
I neglected to mention that about a year ago we decided to rip out the laminate flooring in the kitchen and front bath (decided Sun. AM due to a series of events where we learned there was actually perfectly-good tile underneath). Well, there was tile under the laminate in the kitchen, however there wasn't in the front bath (instead really ugly, smelly linoleum). Once we started, there was no turning back, but needless to say, due to our schedules, we just ended up avoiding that front bath for a while. So, my crazy comment was because it takes one to know one :)

If you have tile laying questions PM me, my husband knows it inside and out.
[this is awesome]

Does he rip out carpet?
I guess we'll find out this summer -- I have two rooms that need recarpeting.
