Do you remember your first flight? Where did you go? Why?
Submitted by Laurel.
I was 16. We were going on a family vacation from England to America. Everywhere in England is driving distance and the two times we went to Europe as a family we took the ferry, so I felt the flight was pretty overdue. I do remember being excited for the whole travel experience, but the flight itself was not memorable. Since then I've had lots more interesting flights - flying with a four or five month old baby who yakked up all over me somewhere over the Atlantic, flying with a toddler and a three month old baby and swearing that I would NEVER do this again, (HA! That didn't last!), having the flight attendant have to ask, over the intercom, "Is there a doctor on the plane?" (just like the movies!), but me being the one that needed the doctor. Good times. Makes me never want to fly again just thinking about all those good times.
So. I just hacked into Esther's Vox account (read: I know her password, but doesn't hacked sound so much better?) and put a photo on her profile so that I don't have to keep looking at the outline of a person who has a question mark where the rest of us have facial features. I suggest Beth and Seth do the same. Please. For me. I actually had to scan in about five photos before I could decide which one I liked best. Esther, I hope you concur.
While trying to find a photo of Esther that would be suitable, I was flipping through pictures of our last trip to England. So, here are some more:
Jesse and Libby outside York Minster. Can you believe they now charge you to go inside there? Well, they do, so we didn't.
Jesse and Evan, in the Land Rover and heading out of school together. I love that they got to be such good friends during the visit.
This photo was taken at a place called Conkers, an educational nature center. There was a big video screen playing sped-up footage of the process of decomposition. I think it was a carcass that was being consumed by maggots. Esther, Evan and Jesse are looking disgusted. Hyrum is looking fascinated. Libs is looking cute!
Taken at the same place. The kids found a frog (or toad? What's the difference?) hopping along and had to investigate.
Jesse with his Uncle Seth.
Ebbie with her Uncle Seth too!
Jesse at Sam's wedding. I love this picure, although his hair? Looks funny.
Me and Dad dancing at Sam's wedding. I love this picture, although my butt? Looks gargantuan.
I can't help it - this picture always makes me smile. And not because it's me really up close and personal. I don't know - who wouldn't want to be woken on Easter morning by having a flash go off in their face?
Easter morning. See that? That glint, that gleam, in her eye? That means, Get that camera out of my face! I have eggs to find! We are such bad parents. Other children get to use pretty little baskets to gather their Easter eggs in. Our children? Our children get Asda bags.
Not the best picture of Jude (I don't know why he looks like he's glowing) but doesn't that facial expression just sum him up?
Wow - this took longer than I realized. More tomorrow...
