Jesse's birthday, which is five days after Christmas. Jesse usually gets short-changed on his birthday party. It's so hard to pull something together during this crazy time of year when everyone is either out-of-town or has family visiting. As we're usually surrounded by family we tend to do a family thing and let Jesse choose the activities. Last year Esther and her kids were here and Jesse choose to go bowling and ice-skating with lunch at Steak 'n' Shake. This year I decided to be on the ball and have a party for him before school broke up for winter break and everyone scattered hither and yon.
So this was our Saturday, and it was the easiest birthday party I've ever orchestrated. Todd bought a cake from the store, I ordered pizza, we went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. I tell you what, $73.50 for admission and $50.14 for concessions was worth every penny for not having to do any work.

Pointing at a big old bug. The important thing here is the size of the grasshopper!! Really, my hand is just in the picture to show scale. I was going to pick it up but, frankly, didn't dare.
This photo came up when I searched my Flickr photos for "hands" because I mentioned that my hands fitted all the way around the chest of my tiny niece Ellie. Early morning babies are so delicious!
Okay, here's a question. Neither Todd or I wear a wedding ring. Does this seem unusual? Now that I'm in school I have become aware that people have no reason to think I'm married unless I mention it, which I don't unless it arises naturally in converstion. When we go out I pay for everything because I get points if I use my debit card. Todd thinks that people won't know we're married and they will think he's a huge tightwad who doesn't pick up the bill.
What do you all think about wedding rings and the rules of wearing them?

I have been wanting to get some pictures printed up for a while now. Currently the only photos we have framed in the house are this one (which I didn't take) and this one (which, actually, I also didn't take.) So that would be one photo of Esther and me (in Libby's room) and one photo of three of my 16 nieces and nephews. And none of my children! In the entire house! Most the photos that I would like to print I've already Voxed (like this, and this.)
But here's one that I really like that I don't think you've seen before - Esther and her dog Jeda.
